Being a Club Promoter is not easy at all, it’s quite a difficult task in that they have to achieve a better and faster result than large marketing companies without any of the tools. Their primary responsibility is to make sure customers attend the event but sometimes they are also responsible for booking talents, setting up a venue with the right lights, sounds, bar, staff and door policy.

If an event or night club is packed, they are responsible but if the event is dead empty, they are also responsible.

Way back during the ice age, night club promoters will use hand flyers, posters, radio djs and local talents to promote a specific event or night club. More recently they use social media like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, emails, text and digital flyers to get the word out. However, big scale event promoters still use the posters, hand flyers, radio but also rely on night club promoters for direct access to their network. The more experienced individuals would use their looks, their charms while out on the town. This approach is much more sophisticated and would create an intimate connection with the customer which means they are more likely to show up to the night club.
Promoters: What they earn in Salary
Most night club promoters are seen as college dropouts and lacking in strong education. However, there is nothing better than life experience and on the job training which works extremely well for these profession. Some people choose to work in this field while most randomly fall into it, usually because of their situation. Depending on the individual, considering their look, education, confidence, training and city, their salary can average anything from $24k to $60k per year; this is really a part time income for a very average night club promoter. The more experience, will earn $500k to several million dollars. It is relatively common in entertainment cities Las Vegas, Los Angeles, London and New York. Some nightclub promoters can demand a flat fee per night or pay per head but the more experienced promoters with a big team and a big pull will demand profit sharing.
How to become a Night club Promoter
If you want to become a Night club promoter, you need to either have a big network of friends and colleagues or have an abundant of confidence. If you don’t have a big network then you will need to go out to network and meet people. You will need to go out and connect with 10-20 per night, collect phone numbers religiously and make new friends very fast. If you want to make a living in this profession, you will have to target 20-24 year old students because they have the time to party more often that the older crowd. This profession requires to look good, speak well, speak fast and become the ultimate sales man.
Head night club promoters sometimes referred to as partner or senior promoters are usually the more experienced guys that have a strong base. Partners are usually responsible for everything to do with filling up the night clubs. They have to book all the talent, hire staff, designers and deliver majority of the customers. They only make money after all the expense and sub promoters are paid. These partners can pull 75-100 or more customers through the door. Partner usually make $500 to $1000 per night, especially on weekend. To become a partner, you have to start as a host or sub promoter. You have to establish a strong network of clubbers which usually take two or more years.
Sub promoters work under partners, and partners are always hiring subs; There are always jobs for subs. These Subs earn $3-$5 for each person they bring to the club. Average pay per night for subs can range from $100 to $300, mostly paid in cash. Eventually, subs will become head partners. Subs make up the Majority of Los Angeles scene.
Host Promoters, not to be confused with VIP Hosts, are night club promoters with very limited responsibilities. Their responsibility is pretty much limited to looking after a group of models, celebrities or stunning ladies at complimentary bottle service table. To become a host, you will have to know several models or stunning ladies but more importantly, you will need to be very attractive. You will need to be able to get them to show up to your night club and sit on your table all night. Hosts usually earn a flat fee per night. It could be anything from $100-$500 per night.
