Make room for yet another restaurant-lounge hybrid, La Vida Hollywood, conceived by Sunset Entertainment Group, better known for places like Green Door and Pig ‘n Whistle. Debuting February 16, La Vida Hollywood will serve Spanish-influenced Cali cuisine under the leadership of Rivera alum Joseph Panarello. Menu highlights include Black Bean Brushed Quail, Sonoma Lamb Sausage with Yogurt Sauce, and Tagine Roasted Jidori Chicken Breast, with appetizers in the $13ish ballpark and entrees in the $20s. Good news for anyone out late, in addition to serving lunch and dinner, La Vida Hollywood also offers a late night menu available from Thursday to Saturday until midnight.
As far as design (headed by Touster Wright Design), owners looked to capture the essence of Southern Spain in five separate rooms: a white plaster-arched dining courtyard partially covered by overhanging barrel-vaulted beam; a reception bar with aqua blue glass tile; a main dining room which sits under a canopy of hand-blown glass fixtures and features a gold tiled fireplace; and a main bar clad in three-dimensional aqua blue wall material. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Hollywood club without the requisite VIP room. Basically, the deal here is that La Vida Hollywood will mostly serve as a restaurant during the day (lunch, dinner) and at night tables will be moved for more of a lounge-y set up.
La Vida Hollywood offers exquisitely prepared California cuisine with a Spanish influence. Enjoy the delectable Mediterranean flavors of Southern Spain in small bites to share with a delicious glass of home-made sangria or feast on a full course menu featuring a contemporary take on enchanting rustic fare. Décor: La Vida Hollywood celebrates the lavish Spanish Mediterranean seaside and provides a luxury vacation-like experience. The open-air patio, replete with lush landscaping, is brilliantly lit and surrounded by white plaster arches and banquette seating. Guests of the two-tiered indoor area enjoy an intimate lounge experience along with a dining area to savor the cuisine. Private entrance available for VIP reservations.
La Vida Hollywood features a large outdoor patio with burning rocks, three bars, at least two fireplaces, and an impressive dance floor. Most anything you’d want in a Hollywood stop is here, and if you don’t like any particular element, there’s room enough to put it out of sight and out of mind.
The décor soothes with light blue wavy lines, one ceiling lit by blowfish-like lamps. The design suggests snorkeling in a coral reef. The food is superb, emphasizing tapas-style small orders with a seafood emphasis. A few dishes arrive on a hibachi-lite mini-grill.
